Ports 1961 Fall / Winter 2013

The younger segment of Ports 1961’s clientele might not be familiar with the iconic style of Lee Radziwill. But perhaps after Fiona Cibani’s fall 2013 ode to the socialite and less globally-known Bouvier sister, they will.

In channeling the “class, courage and composure” of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis’ younger sister, Cibani’s Milan fashion week (MFW) runway became a procession of ladylike silhouettes and muted tones occasionally broken through with rich statement colours: saturated French blue and bright cherry pink.

The skirt on one of Cibani’s cherry numbers was cut in strips segmented by sheer black panels creating a brilliant flash of skin and silhouette as it moved. Full skirts and Swarovski crystal embellishments were prim and feminine all over, but the spirit of the modern woman shone through in more relaxed elements: untucked shirts peeping out from beneath oversized sweaters, black and white graphic prints and digital x-ray florals, and finally the addition of reflective metallic clutches bringing any elegant Radziwill-inspired outfit right into the now.
