More female-power and sort of a modern-day warrior attitude transgressed Prabal Gurung’s fall / winter 2013 runway show, as the key looks this season appear to be circling over and above a woman’s confidence and strength. Military is the first note to have hit the eager audience, all perfectly explicable since Gurung found his inspiration while stumbling across Ukraine’s Asgarda tribe. But leave it to the Nepali designer to breathe some femininity into even the most structured and severe silhouettes, regardless of the point of departure.
As every new collection should automatically mean a step forward en route of exploring new territories, Prabal Gurung’s was no exception and his progress was consolidated by the amount of attention pointed towards the tailoring department. The peplum waists, the sharp shoulders, the draping accents, all helped enrich the collection while marking the debut of a new chapter that proves to be just as irresistible. A selection of striking gowns, sexy and provocative, keeping the level of sophistication intact closed the show, but as we all know, it’s by far the last we’ve seen of them.
