Miuccia Prada found it in herself to let go this season, to steer away from conceptualization and embrace a raw kind of elegance. As a result, her fall / winter 2013 collection came across bold, intriguing and far more wearable than anything we have witnesses on the Prada runway during the past seasons. Breathing a sense of ease into her garments, the designer did however choose construction as foundation for her line up, building upon the 1940s and 1950s silhouettes and focusing merely on plush furs, metallic leathers and multicolored tweeds in the fabrics department.
The first look to have walked the runway set the tone for a relaxed, focused and statement-making collection, eased of tensions and keen on promoting off-the-shoulder wool dresses, slouchy cardigans, recurring asymmetrical skirts and belted skirt suits as new power garments. An homage paid to beauty and femininity, Prada’s smart tailoring and unique ability to turn her designs into the most desirable and brilliant of choices, represent an ideal way of keeping the wardrobe updated, diversified and season friendly. Her line up was all about asserting fashion as the ultimate altering experience.
