The Proenza Schouler girl doesn’t do glamour. At least, not of the glitzy, over-groomed kind. She’s the one who can make a red carpet look work even with messy bedhair and minimal makeup. She’s the one who makes a cut that should be unflattering effortlessly sexy. And somehow Proenza Schouler’s clothes facilitate that. For pre-spring 2013, even an outfit of boyfriend-ish jeans and a coat with rounded sack shoulders is cut well enough to be cool rather than frumpy. The brand’s resort collection doesn’t take any revolutionary new direction but is filled with the brand’s cool-girl staples: slouchy pants and minimalist luxe tees, leather shell tops, relaxed shirt dresses and apron-front frocks all feature.
