The cool kids are back on the block. They’re donning converse and playful silhouettes, shirts tied to the side paired with shorts and cute neck scarfs. Structured bodices mimic lingerie and boyfriend jackets take on a pastel color palette. To cap it off, Ruffian’s spring / summer 2013 collection saw poofed up hair on each girl, a style that has become one of the popular hairstyles of the young generation.
The ladies walking down the New York fashion week (NYFW) catwalk transported to us to a place well known for its diversity. Bedford St in Williamsburg is where we travel to with the Ruffian brand in this collection. A place where there is a huge diversity within its residents due to the cross between all different cultures, people, and aspirations.
The designers of the brand Brian Wolk and Claude Morais currently live in Williamsburg and decided to dedicate the collection to the area of NYC that they call home. A counterbalance of baroque and minimalism was combined with luxury fabrics that the Ruffian brand is known for. The style of hipster casualness mixed with classic elegance set the stage for looks that are relatable across a span of generations creating a collection that will stand out from the rest.
