Tough luxury and high-volume coats, this is what Massimiliano Giornetti had in mind when he envisioned his fall / winter 2013 menswear line-up. Set against a matching backdrop, simulating a cold, rainy day in the city of New York, the full spectrum of outwear seemed more than appropriate giving the choice of weather. Completely dark, but not entirely black, the color palette on the Milan fashion week (MFW) runway was built around shades of heavy blues, grays and greens, which were totally flattering but not a bit overwhelming.
Everything in the collection looked solid as the fascination towards the exaggerated shapes seemed to have conquered and deeply transformed the garments in all volumes and shapes. It happened to the coats, jackets and knits, except for the high cropped pants, who were smartly tailored with the specific purpose of uncovering the rubber soles boots, because in all honesty they did deserve a place under the spotlights.
