Stolen Girlfriends Club is like an all-night party: unbridled and full of potential. Any show that can capture the moment’s zeitgeist and inject in into relaxed sporty cuts, intermixed with mini dresses that personify sex, has our vote. And Stolen Girlfriends Club’s debut RAFW (Australian fashion week) show did just that.
Every element of the show epitomised the laid-back uber-cool NZ style the label is famous for. The location was an off-the-beaten-track warehouse in Alexandria with sprawling concrete floors and sparse, moody lighting. The models were rocked up with bedhair interwoven with plaits and feathers, topped off by dark eyemakeup, and attitude that was so electric it would burn you to touch it. Guests were dosed up with a much-needed hit of glaceau vitaminwater and some pumping music.
And the clothing? The type that can only be worn with socks under towering wedges and an air of utter nonchalance – not to mention a great pair of legs, which certainly helps whenever reptilian butt-scraping hot pants are concerned. New Zealand’s own darling Zippora Seven had a mandatory and welcomed presence in the show, while Tallulah Morton‘s Titan-like stature – adorned with a teeny minidress with flowing cape detail – was the perfect show closer.
In a word? Hot.
