Thakoon Panichgul’s conceptual work was grounded this resort season by a vision that seeks the idea of simplicity and ease in a garment. For 2014, Thakoon focused on the crisp white shirt, deconstructing layers and a cleansed color palette evolving from shades of white and ivory, to darker hues of navy and black. Putting the natural and the artificial in balance, the line-up feels smart despite its uncomplicated nature.
Influenced by the Cuban button-downs for men, Thakoon’s crisp and collared pieces came in interesting textures that combined eyelet, woven raffia and poplin. Paired with pinstripe silk pants they gave a complete idea over the kind of clean silhouettes the designer had in mind for pre-spring: boyish in essence, but exuding a coolness that fits the modern woman’s taste for a sportier aesthetic.
Featuring graphic combinations of prints and soft geometric motifs, and styled with open-toe loafer with patent tassels, Thakoon’s resort 2014 collection comes forth elegant, fresh and concise, illustrating that less always feels like more.
