Tom Ford Autumn (Fall) / Winter 2013

After years of doing things his way and keeping away from the big catwalks, Tom Ford marked the runway debut of his eponymous line during London fashion week (LFW) this Monday, with a show that had everything to offer. Loud, explosive, filled with showstopping garments, the fall / winter 2013 collection Ford envisioned was a clear sign that the designer was not interested in holding back. Unified by glamour and tough luxury, the line up explored all the possible elements, throwing lace, fur, beading and fringes into the game, with an outcome that screamed rebellious sophistication.

Ford’s “cross cultural multi ethnic” engagement this season felt utterly fun and creative. From bold leopard prints to tribal inspired hand beaded flowers on skirts and jackets, and from intense prints and patchworks to piercing graphic embellishments, Ford pursued everything with an exaltation that became contagious. Far from restrictive, the silhouettes felt more relaxed, as to allow the patterns, fabrics and heavy adornments to really stand out. Not that it would have been possible for them to stand out any more. Thrilling from beginning to end, Tom Ford’s comeback was paved with a well deserved success.
