It’s only day 1 in a tag-team marathon of men’s fashion weeks, but already the spirit of adventurism is emerging as a key theme. Seems this season menswear is about getting away from the indoors – far away – be it an imagination-driven trip or a physical one. Topman saw it coming, lacing up the feet of their fall / winter 2013 man in hiking boots, making sure he had enough duck-down encasing his body to keep him warm, and decking him out in head-to-toe orange bright enough for him to be spotted from a rescue aircraft lest he get lost in a forest.
Of course, the practicality of compasses and hip-flasks aside (burgeoning accessory trends for the runways at very least), his adventurism is not without contemporary style and urban flair. With his beanie-capped head, handsome indie hair, and luxe turtleneck knits that make him look like he should be sipping martinis fireside at the Swiss Alps, it’s exactly the kind of adventure-sportism that has massive sartorial appeal.
