As she becomes more accustomed to the haute couture fashion scene, albeit not the official one, Ulyana Sergeenko seems to hold back on the drama less and less. For autumn 2013, the Russian designer sought inspiration in the captivating folk stories that her grandmother told to her as a child. Never lacking of substance, Ulyana Sergeenko’s collections continue to celebrate the Russian heritage in the most beautiful way possible.
“Russian Gothic” is the name of the haute couture line-up gracing the upcoming fall season with an array of Victorian inspired silhouettes, highly represented by arresting balloon sleeves, sumptuous high-necked gowns and demure capes. The noir theme is further enhanced with delicate handmade Vologda lace and luxurious Krestetsk hand floral embroidery.
Amongst the sea of black, bold splashed of red and transparent panel elements addto the increased level of sensuality. As always, Ulyana Sergeenko’s collection shines most through a myriad of elaborate details, including tear-shaped cutouts, delicate headpieces and honeycomb fabric ruching.
