If there’s one thing Ulyana Sergeenko’s couture collections do well, it’s replicating something folkish and traditional – replicated with a dose of sex appeal. Last time it was all inspired by her homeland of Russia, but for spring 2013 she was looking across the seas (and decades) to old America.
Channeling Margaret Mitchell (Scarlett O’Hara, anyone?) and Washington Irving might make for some theatrical and potentially demure costume, but the aforementioned sex appeal was still there in bucket loads. Short hems, sheer fabrics and vintage style corsetry made sure of that.
