Extreme polish and the highest level of urban sophistication crossed paths in what appeared as Valentino’s strikingly perfect fall 2013 menswear collection. Safe to assume that an equal amount of care and attention went into even the tiniest of details, as nothing in the splendid line-up led us to believe otherwise. Sensing a subtle influence coming from the stylish 1960s, Valentino’s collection was inarguably inspired by the city of London.
Re-envisioning the old as new, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli presented a full spectrum of impeccable tailored fall and winter essentials focusing on everything from trim fit suits, to leather paneled capes and refined versions of the transitional sweater. Mostly covered in dark neutrals and earthy tones, the garments spoke loud and clear about pushing forward having the gentle infusion of camo print and the emphasis on the check pattern stand for the assertion. A blast from the past with an eye on the future, this is what truly made Valentino’s collection feel so utterly refreshing.
