Clothes you’d want to wear on a daily basis. Effortless, luxurious, chic. If you wanted to sum up Vanessa Bruno’s spring / summer 2013 collection in a few words, those are the words that spring to mind.
The reality is that not every Paris fashion week (PFW) show is about high drama or envelope pushing, and Bruno’s was one with a focus on wearibility. Androgynous tailoring had an easy sex appeal. Liquid silk skirts, mid length, worn with tailored blazers or leather jackets were surpassed in luxurious effortlessness only by silk draw-string pants.
As the show drew on Bruno amped up the femininity with folkish perforated dresses and a pretty china blue-on-white print that was best on a relaxed jumpsuit – the kind that straddled the space between country innocence and bohemian cool.
The dressier the dresses got, the more casual the accessories were to counterbalance. Even in pieces with plunging necklines (the kind that could have benefited from some magic tape, but were none the less stunning) Bruno’s glamour was of the most perfectly pared back kind.
