Nothing short of luxurious, the Vera Wang pre-fall 2013 lineup was gently touched by the richness of the Asian culture, not in ostentatious ways, but rather in essence and concept. The influence read exquisite floral jacquards that embellished Wang’s signature silhouettes, making for a superb and unexpected fusion between athleticism and utterly feminine notes.
The element of novelty was introduced via the bold selection of statement jewelry that was highly represented by necklaces, detachable collars and cuffs, and crystal encrustation infused on pockets and delicate waistlines. The selection was complemented by an equally stunning choice of rich purple and tangerine hues, slightly empowering a pair of tuxedo pants, a floor-length column skirt, fox-collared evening jackets and hobble skirts.
After a colorful first chapter, the collection reached a subtle balance, transitioning into a beautiful palette of grays that felt closer to Vera Wang’s unmistakable aesthetic. Super luxe and definitely carrying the same sense of sophistication, the gray numbers made it hard to tell if they were envisioned for cocktail hours or later evenings. The effortless appeal accented the stunning lineup, with the floral damask taking center stage in a season that needed a little bit of brightness and a little bit of a luxurious feel.
