Zac Posen brings drama with fishtails, florals and folds

There seems an inevitability of any Zac Posen collection that at some stage the thigh-hugging line of a skirt is going to suddenly explode out into a dramatic fishtail. In hues of burgundy and purple Posen’s resort / pre-spring 2013 fishtailed dresses are indeed a little bit like deja vu. But if this particular trademark – along with the structured and panelled below-knee dresses with their squared-off sweetheart necklines, which also seem a repetition – keeps reappearing then it must be doing something right for the designer. Where attention to detail and celebration of female form are concerned, Zac Posen remains a master.

A fanciful floral frock lets loose a little in another part of the collection, while the immaculate pleats and folds of Posen’s tailored pieces go a long way to showing off his ability to take something classic – and give it a craftsman’s touch.
