Faconnable started 60 years ago in Jean Goldberg's small tailor shop off Rue Paradis, a few blocks from the beach in Nice. Once popular as a purveyor of tuxedos for Hollywood stars attending the Cannes Film Festival, the brand is still renowned for its smartly cut, continental-flavored menswear, plus the knack for color that Jean’s son Albert brought to the table when he took over in 1961. Faconnable opened a Parisian boutique in 1984 and came to the States in 1988, courtesy of Nordstrom, which later bought the brand. Now, under new ownership, Faconnable stays true to its sartorial roots with sharp tailoring and classic pieces, but it isn’t afraid to innovate with new materials and unabashedly modern hues.
