Surgical masks in sheer fabrics make for an unusual (and probably quite medically ineffectual) accessory in this shoot starring Barbara Palvin. Is their presence there to assure us that face masks can be fashionable (indeed, Palvin looks a little like every man’s fantasy nurse), or perhaps to add a unique, unusual touch to the shoot’s styling? All we know is that beyond the strange inclusion,…

Nude lips, model-like hair, runway ready eyes and perfect lips are all the basics of the beauty world, the must haves, the essentials. We all want to create the beauty looks we see on the runway but we might not know how, or might not have the products that are quintessential to the look. The following mini-tutorials skip the purchasing of the expensive products, but…

DSquared2 often have a penchant for the preppy. For pre-fall 2012 the twist is a time-travel one, taking us back to the 1950s in cropped cigarette pants, thick-rimmed glasses, and argyle cardigans – like something a highschool geek might have worn in Grease only sexier. Away from the geek-chic prep things get even better. Tight sweaters tucked into pencil skirts, body-hugging dresses and leather miniskirts,…

Aside from the beautiful, bright jewel tones paired with bold red lips (and those jewel tones really must be paired with bold red lips), the thing most striking from this shoot is Barbara Palvin in a gold breastplate that’s ancient warrior meets sensual Goddess.

And while the same pieces make recurrent…

Noticing a theme in Numero‘s 115th issue? We had Magdalena the enchantress, Eniko the sorceress, and now here’s a pictorial of the lovely Barbara Palvin, Voodoo Child. But the real black magic is in the styling: from Warrior-like metal plating to feathers, sequins, fringing and furs – there’s no shortage of detail, and yet it all remains coherent. In outfits like these we don’t doubt…

Despite the many, many military themed shoots we’ve seen this year, I don’t believe this particular combination has surfaced before. Yes, I’m talking about military green with rich burgundy velvet. Click on the image to view the full gallery

Miu Miu‘s towering platform Mary-Janes and over-the-knee socks are a match made in heaven; and if you don’t believe me just check out this super-cute pictorial. Barbara Palvin oozes Parisian Lolita chic for Jalouse’s June 2010 issue, with the mandatory elements of socks, sequins, and gingham. Click on the image for the full shoot

We’ve seen tons of examples of hot pants in magazine shoots, but not so many of tap pants, the trend’s daintier cousin. This shoot in L’Officiel Russia has both. Personally I adore tap pants as a trend: they’re soft, flattering, lingerie-inspired and still revealing enough to be sexy, although they can look like you’ve accidentally left the house in your pyjamas if you’re not careful.
