Sometimes the best way to compliment a fashion statement is by contrasting it. A printed pant suit that’s so relaxed it borders pyjama-esque thus needs something a little glamorous to contradict it; a bold jewelled necklace or a pair of stiletto-heeled ankle boots, perhaps. In donning one such relaxed pant suit of head-to-toe abstract print – this one being by Ukranian designer Yasya Minochkina –…

Anna Dello Russo played it down in black and sequins; and in a surprise twist, the prize for the boldest outfit at Paris fashion week yesterday might actually go to Natalie Joos who donned head-to-toe clashes of colour and print, from a green cat-print coat to orange leopard print suit and Liam Fahy congo-print slippers. Now there’s a game look. Kicking off with blogger Doina…

For all its grand boulevards, there’s a real beauty to Barcelona’s smaller alleys. They don’t wind like older parts of Europe, instead they stand either side, leaving the odd balcony to hang over you as you walk underneath. Were this Verona, a Juliet might appear at any stage. Barcelona’s alleys are neat by day and evocative by night, provided you find the right one. Though…

There’s plenty to look at in Barcelona, even in the middle of winter. The urban landscape offers row upon row of buildings that hint at the city’s former wealth while the natural landscape offers up views of hillsides, beaches and the Mediterranean. Street fashion isn’t as frequently as engaging however. As in so many other parts of the Med, Barcelona has a relaxed culture that…

We’ve seen a number of top models in recent moths chopping of their hair and stepping out with chin-length bob hairstyles, prompting us to agree that the bob should sit amoung the list of covetable 2013 hair trends. Of course, that’s not to say a bob is for everyone. Far from. If you do want to brave a bob for the first time, or return…

Skirt suits – especially the kind that fall demurely below the knee – are not something you normally think of as appealing to the young and chic. But a quirky print can furnish even the most serious of silhouettes with a punch line, setting a balance of sophistication and youthful fun. The perfect example? Style blogger Doina Ciobanu wearing a matching set of high waisted…

Womenswear borrows from menswear without hesitation or restriction, so it’s no surprise that as army inspired clothing for men rises in high-fashion popularity, so too should it re-enter the woman’s wardrobe with new flair. In the form of skinny-cut camo print pants, for example. Blogger Doina makes a Zara pair march the line between casual and glamorous (just add Louboutins for the latter component).

One thing that always strikes us about style blogger Doina Ciobanu is her skill at mixing designer and high street. Case in point, a white lace Zara dress, Bershka necklace and H&M belt, raised up to another level with the help of a few key accessories: YSL bag, YSL shoes, and Celine sunglasses that ooze glamour with their subtle cat eye shape.

As nice a look as it creates, it’s not easy to wear white. It’s doubly difficult to layer a look that solely depends on it. But here’s an all white ensemble (well off-white and white, if we’re picky) that takes the best of the hue, avoids the standard minimalist interpretation, and instead works it through a classic worldview of peaked-lapel blazers and pleated, wide leg…

There’s little doubt that a skirt with a high waist is the skirt of the season. Doina Ciobanu at The Golden Diamonds got it right in clashing prints but equally fine fabrics, with polka-dots and blue hues the common thread between skirt and blouse. Bold it may be, but this Marni x H&M skirt would be equally perfect for blouse or more daring crop top.
