Dree Hemingway may have been wearing an ornately embellished Balmain jacket to sit front row at the brand’s spring 2013 Paris fashion week show; but she knows how to dress something down to a cool level. Simply pair it with a t-shirt, a beanie and a pair of Raybans.

Each ManiaMania collection of jewellery is accompanied by a description of its inspirations that’s just about as mystical and cryptic and open to interpretation as the jewellery itself. Reliably there’s some inspiration drawn from the hippie days of the ‘60s and ‘70s. If it’s a fascination with spiritualism or surrealism or religious cult it’s the fascination revived from the way it was in those free-loving…

There’s nothing that strikes you as particularly equestrian about a floor-length embellished lace gown. Not in the sense that you’d pull on a pair of boots with it and hit the riding track, anyway. If there’s any link between horses and Ermanno Scervino’s evening gowns its that they both have a dark, slinky elegance: the rippling muscle of an equine beast and the shimmering fabric…

The product and the imagery are always in fierce competition with any ManiaMania campaign. In this campaign, as with all the previous, you get swept up in the mood; the mystical, sensual mood. And as you’re being swept away on the white-water rush of dreamy imagery, your eyes scramble to fixate on the jewellery and accessories that should be the true stars of the campaign.…

This is the kind of story that doesn’t have to have a happy ending. In fact, the mood is such that you can imagine a deep yet tumultuous romance that was great while it lasted but that ended with the fading of the Aegean summer. Like flicking through an album filled with memories that are twice as sweet because they’ll never, ever be repeated; like…

There’s so much playful tomfoolery going on in this campaign that you might mistake it for one of Diesel‘s Be Stupid offerings. Only this is a campaign that is sans brightly coloured, blocky slogans. The campaign is actually for Hugo Boss Orange – the fashion house’s more urban, more casual line. And it’s one of those cases where the quirkiness of the campaign outshines the…

What makes you love a fashion shoot? Is it the model, the clothing, the way the clothes are styled, the photography? It could be any or all of the above, but sometimes a shoot is great for something else: sometimes it’s the mood it evokes. This is one of those shoots. Yes Dree Hemingway looks like a modern Daisy Buchanan; yes the styling by Bay…

The first thing that caught my eye while I was perusing the Madewell spring 2011 look book featuring Dree Hemingway was another interpretation and classic version of nautical stripes. With stripes layered under or over the chic-casual outfits, the look book gives a few styling ideas for creating strong yet subtle striped looks.

Forming the first part of the quartet of covers from i-D magazine‘s 2010 Winter issue is a topless Dree Hemingway photographed by Matt Jones with the word “amaze” splashed across her chest. We just don’t buy it though: after the onslaught of editorial and covers featuring nudity this year a flash of skin has to be more than just that to capture our gaze, and…

If there’s one thing that has us pining for the shivering cold weather, it’s country chic dressing. Heavy knits and shearling coats, rich brown leathers and snug tall boots; the type of clothes that take you from frosty morning walks down country roads to marshmallow bonfires at night. The type of clothes that, country as they may be, are by no means exempt from the…
