Mario Testino is one of the most sought after photographers in fashion, so it’s no wonder that the Museum of Fine Arts Boston have decided to host two separate exhibits for him, displaying all of his iconic photos and body of work. The first exhibit, Mario Testino: In Your Face consists of a collection of fashion photography (from Gisele Bundchen to Karlie Kloss) and celebrity…

Latex looks remarkable on a supermodel figure. Leather and latex even more so, when styled (as it is here, by Elizabeth Sulcer) with seasonal must-haves like glittering costume jewels and metallic heels. It’s fetish, but it’s also high fashion. And who better to pull off the second-skin latex look right now than Karlie Kloss? Numero Tokyo casts her well in their October issue, photographed by…

A true model is always ready to strike a pose. For Karlie Kloss, it doesn’t matter if it’s on the runway in front of a waiting crowd or in front of one photographer’s lens in the tight confines of a backstage area: she makes her presence felt. Karlie Kloss’ cover for Harper’s Bazaar Russia felt particularly youthful and school-girl inspired to us when we laid eyes on the messy braided buns she was sporting. Inside the pages, Natalia Alaverdian’s styling and photography cements our suspicions: this is most definitely Kloss as whimsical youth. In argyle socks, graphic print ties, tweeds and tailoring, she’s a portrait of a young girl from another era…

As androgyny and fashion are increasingly paired through the coming autumn / winter season you’ll see much of this: an interpretation of androgyny that leans towards the sapphic. Sapphism turns heads, but this season androgyny gives it a rather wide berth even if many a photographer will still lean towards it.

With more entertainment value than the print campaign (which you can see at the gallery), Karlie Kloss’ video for Juicy Couture sees her long legs executing flying kicks to L.L Cool J’s Going back to Cali (of late ’80s vintage), leaving a trail of defeated men in her wake. Shot by Inez & Vinoodh, Karlie makes the work look effortless, and like she’s enjoying every…

Karlie Kloss has the chameleon ability to transform from sweet and youthful to smouldering and sexually aware. Sometimes it’s all in the raise of an arched brow. But on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar Russia it’s girly all the way: the casual outfit, the rosy cheeks, and the back to school hairstyle of messy double buns.

Fashion isn’t always about being conventionally beautiful. Sometimes it’s about personality, like when prints clash boldly together to create something eccentric and experimental. A sub-story of fall 2012 fashion wanted nothing more than to fearlessly create those clashes. You need only look at Miu Miu’s fall collection as an example. And, as if to contrast things even more, it was a trend that befriended androgyny…
