Peeking out from behind pink transparent plastic – the underside of a straw hat – is Malgosia Bela in what makes for a striking Harper’s Bazaar Poland cover.

The drama of a Roberto Cavalli collection doesn’t always translate smoothly. Nor are Mario Testino’s campaigns always something to behold. But together, for Cavalli’s spring / summer 2013 campaign, everything just clicks.

A great model isn’t made by looks alone; it’s in the way he or she moves, in their expressiveness, in their chameleon ability to contort into different shapes and personas. Antidote’s accompanying video for their ‘Icons’ shoot showcases more of those qualities, leaving no doubt as to the fact that Bianca Balti, Malgosia Bela, Naomi Campbell, Saskia de Brauw, Eva Herzigova, Natasha Poly, Aymeline Valade…

They’re all models at the top of their game (or at least near enough to it), but is Antidote magazine right to call them all icons?

Sarah Richardson’s brainwave to take two antithetical things and mash them together – namely leather harnesses and flowers – was a brilliant one. The effectiveness of the combination in this shoot starring Malgosia Bela has stayed in my mind, the beauty of the pastel coloured leather against primroses and hyacinth being an unexpected twist for a traditionally fetishist accessory. Roughly eight months later we revisit…

Fashion from the turn of the 20th century might seem very far removed from the hippy era of the 1970s… but, that’s only if you discount the influence of Art Nouveau artists like Alphonse Mucha on the latter era. This shoot starring Malgosia Bela crosses between the two. The title is Bohem Rapsodi, and while the style references hint to the 70s in many regards,…

The reputation of leather is usually one of hardness. It’s worn with studs and zips and dark dies, not soft little roses and pastel tones. And never has that been truer than with pieces like leather harnesses, usually fetishist and edgy. But as we’ve reiterated in recent posts all that is changing – and I couldn’t have come up with a more perfect example, and…

It may be a distant memory now, but believe it or not there used to be a time when magazines had just one cover per issue. Now we want more. And many magazines deliver by way of multiple covers, Muse being one such publication. For the Spring 2011 issue Daniele Duella and Iango Henzi photographed eight covers. You get to take your pick from Malgosia…
