After witnessing their notable revival on the fall 2012 runways, more and more designers pursued new and exciting ways to carry knee-high boots over into the spring of 2013. While it’s true that a warm season is meant to be celebrated in easy sandals, comfortable ballet flats and sexy pumps, there’s no denying in the fact that the knee-high boots can be all of the…

There are a few elements that – collectively – make this shoot of model Marine a powerful and visually stunning one. There’s the hair and makeup by Chisato Arai, with looks that highlight first a blushing cheek, then a dramatic smudge of kohl, and finally a darkly romantic burgundy lip. Then there’s the styling by Marianne Malafosse that dresses Marine in clouds of black tulle…

Don’t be fooled by those who use black as a means to blend in, the notions of a “gothic” colour and style have been far removed from their late 20th century association of smudged makeup and spikey, punk details. We see a gothic transformation come through in this shoot by Milos. Porcelain skin, deep maroon lips and glamorous hairstyles create a style to be sought-out,…

There’s a certain romance to being at home, being alone and revelling in the late morning light; making coffee in just your underwear and cosy woollen socks, doing nothing with your bed hair but letting it brush your face, and feeling beautiful for no-one but yourself. This beauty shoot features Australia-based model, Nina K in different creative hairstyles by Linh Nguyen and make up by Maree Spagnol. Kudos to the photographer,…

Thick hair like this is perfect for bangs. You can just as easily imagine Siobhan’s styled as a messy, grungy, indie fringe as for the textured yet polished looks she’s been given by hair and makeup artist Priscilla Rasjid. A little side-sweep is a minor variation and yet a noticeable one, giving the fringe an effect that’s as feathered as the fur she’s wearing.

With piercing brown eyes and a dusting of freckles model Mira K doesn’t require any feats of photography to make her look more beautiful. But photographer Milos succeeds none the less with his simple yet stunning portraiture.

Beauty comes in many forms, but there’s a particular type that’s specific to youth. Maybe that has to do with the fact that youth is so fleeting; it’s finite nature is both its tragedy and its allure. Stephanie Gibson’s flawless skin – interrupted only by a constellation of freckles – gives off that air of youthful beauty. In this series of portraits by photographer Milos,…
