Ashley Smith at times gets typecast into busty-babe roles that have her posing for Terry Richardson or looking the pinnacle of grunge-rock chic. But leave it to photographer Pierre Dal Corso to present us with one of the most beautiful shoots of Ms Smith we’ve yet laid eyes on: strikingly natural and with her unique features – her gap tooth smile, her freckles – played…

You might venture to say that Elvis Di Fazio is the Australian-born answer to Terry Richardson; his tongue-in-cheek raw documentary style becoming a trademark that’s backed by a fine art background. His biography uses the phrase “kitsch erotica”, and you quickly get the sense that Di Fazio does everything with as much humour as boldness. This piece of Di Fazio’s work has more of the…

Kate Upton in front of the lens, Terry Richardson behind it. You can already imagine what the resulting photo shoot is like. Just scrub nudity you imagined in the images – Kate Upton may be a pin up, but I can’t think of a single photo shoot of hers that includes explicit nudity. She’s doesn’t do anything more. Maybe yet ought to be added to…

It starts with heiress Lydia Hearst, hands grasping tiny hips, in Louis Vuitton’s ladylike ensemble of pastel lace and peachy statement collar. From there Benjamin Kanarek‘s shoot moves through a series of cinematic frames, each styled with a ladylike softness that’s nepenthe to any memory of the model having ever posed with skin-baring abandon in front of Terry Richardson’s lens. This is, unequivocally, Lydia the…

The concept of taking the 1950s bombshell look out of Europe and planting it in the streets of Brooklyn is given a little bit of rawness by way of Terry Richardson’s hand. But even so, it’s pure femininity in each and every shot as Miranda Kerr struts the gritty Brooklyn streets in what Harper’s Bazaar bills as ‘unforgettable daywear’. But while ‘daywear’ may be a…

The Jewellery feels like an afterthought in this previously unreleased shot from David Webb’s jewellery campaign in which Eniko Mihalik snogs a plastic Terry, whilst he photographs. A tad voyeuristic, though not by Richardson standards.

Things change, things remain the same. Nudity, sex, fashion: somehow it’s a triangle that these days fails to stand up without all three sides. That’s true for magazines like Purple Fashion, a magazine that often has just as much skin as fashion but that has the latter word in its title – leaving no doubt of what it considers itself to be. Purple fashion. So…

The line between sugary sweet youth and raw unadulterated smut must be a fine one – if the ease with which Terry Richardson skates between the two is anything to go by. This shoot of Lindsey Wixson is on the youthful fun side; a trip to Miami with rollerskates and dolphins and icecream. Playing to the ’50s and ’60s fashion trends though puts the styling…

The new go-to girl for sports-themed shoots? Candice Swanepoel maintains the toned, tanned limbs to pull off that title – one of the many upsides to having a contract with Victoria’s Secret, one would suppose. Last time it was a shoot by Terry Richardson for Harper’s Bazaar, now it’s this particularly bronzed looking photo series for February’s issue of Vogue China.
