Mise en Cage, that Parisian boutique who specialise in the indulgences of eroticism and sensuality. Pierre Dal Corso, who specialises in capturing those same indulgences on film. When brand and photographer collide, magic things always happen, and this time it’s an even more special occasion. This time, it’s the debut of Mise en Cage’s first in-house lingerie line. Alexander Wang x H&M debuts in New York

The date is set for November 6. That’s the date that the world will go a little crazy for H&M, when the high street will be reduced to a collective Alexander Wang-induced swoon. Wang’s collaboration for the high street giant debuted last night in New York, where the Armory on the Hudson was transformed from track and field to runway. Designing for the masses didn’t…

9 things we learned from New York fashion week

With New York Fashion Week (NYFW) already behind us, it’s time to take a step back and allow everything that’s happened in the Big Apple to gradually sink in. It’s going to be months and months of patiently sifting through it all, but there are certain details shaping up the runway spectacles, that came into view looking so interesting, innovative, shocking or plain unexpected that…

Look closely at the world through the looking glass

At first glance, things look modern. Crisp white outfits, wild wet hair and mountains of white macaroons. But look closely and you’ll see a whole other era through the looking glass; a window to a Victorian world of high collars and neat chignons and the kind of fruit bowls immortalised in still life by the Dutch masters. The new world mirrors the old – or…

For Love & Lemons Knitz A/W ’14 look book

What would it look like if For Love & Lemons created a knitwear line? Like a feast of instant cult hits – styled, of course, to neo-grunge perfection. Debuting for fall / winter 2014, the brand’s “Knitz” line works cropped woollen sweaters, cable-knit flares, knitted sheath dresses and oversized beanies into a too-cool vision of sex appeal.

The bikini-filled allure of the Land Down Under

The nickname of “The Land Down Under” has a connotation of eternal sunshine, big smiles, pristine beaches and beautiful cloudless skies. Mark Sullivan-Bradley’s shoot of that title, The Land Down Under, hones in on all of those things, and yet, it does so in the absence of colour. Sullivan-Bradley’s black and white images manage to capture the spirit of Australian summer thanks to the gorgeous…

Zuhaitz Couture: desert flowers

Far from the usual blossoming lushness you might associate with couture, Zuhaitz’s Paris fashion week runway was a desert garden of leafless branches and scattered bark chips. There’s beauty in the desert, though; where sands stretch away and nature has evolved to withstand harsh conditions. Some pieces were sun-burnished gold, others red as dust or accented in a khaki green.

Tony Ward Haute Couture Spring 2014

This was a Parisian debut for Lebanese-Italian couturier Tony Ward, and the locale – the beautiful Salomon de Rothschild hotel – was a fitting welcome. Ward’s spring 2014 couture collection was architecturally and florally inspired. In normal circumstances buildings and origami flowers might be thematically disparate, but in the realm of couture gowns, they work in harmony. A mix of thigh-scraping and floor-sweeping hem lengths…

Badgley Mischka PF ’14 look book

For Mark Badgley and James Mischka, the pre-autumn / fall 2014 collection is imagined to mark the glamour and the sophistication accompanying the debut of the festive season. Rome’s grandeur, its golden hues and superb architecture were translated to rich baroque textures and arresting embellishments meant to match the fall’s take on fabulous parties, fantastic cocktail hours and soirees.
