When the ultra-cool side of sportswear prevails

Pump up the sleek and the minimal, but retain the subtle feel of luxury, forget all about the field limits and choose to take the athletic influence out on the streets instead. When the cool side of sportswear prevails, put together in such fantastic manner that’s nearly impossible to ignore, everyone is tempted to skip the game and go directly for the prize. In this…

Where the pool meets the ocean

We fell in love with sports luxe many moons ago, yet somehow we haven’t stopped tumbling. The love affair continues into spring / summer 2014: a season where bright neon accents are the exclamation marks on statements made from slick minimal whites, airy mesh fabrics, and reassuringly sturdy neoprenes. All those things get a distinctly Sydney spin in the latest shoot by Kelly Defina for…

Swimwear inspiration for an electric summer

There’s still a little bit of time left for us to work on perfecting the recipe for an electric summer. Seeing how the hot, gorgeous weather is set by default, and the clear, blue waters would make for an excellent addition, what’s clearly missing from the picture are some cool, vibrant and trendy bikini styles, able to complement the silhouette, perhaps as a small reward…

Flash forward to summer, infinite blue skies, palm trees and tropical temperatures; imagine building your own oasis down by the pool, taking in the lure of the islands, as you have clearly vanished somewhere on European grounds. The little black dress gone sporty

The ‘little black dress’ often finds itself a staple of the sexy or the elegant or the minimalist. It’s less often a piece you think of as lending itself well to sporty. But sports-chic can be anything, really; it’s in the accessorising, in the attitdue. It’s a state of mind. This particular take on the LBD from Witchery is made from a sturdy bonded neoprene…

10 of the best men’s accessories from the spring 2014 runways

Fashion has a fascinating way of galvanizing people into constantly thinking about the future, making it always about what’s next, more than it will ever be about what’s hot right now. Past and present get often clouded by the alluring thought of a better, brighter, far more exciting and not so distant future. With the official start of summer 2013 not even that far behind…

sass & bide Resort 2014

Sarah-Jane Clarke and Heidi Middleton took on an ample theme for resort 2014, fusing the Victorian inspiration with the antagonistic punch coming from the future, in what became a bold and beautiful translation of pre-spring. Maintaining the conflicting theme in play, the use of black versus white and bronze versus silver, underlined the same evolving concept of opposing forces.

Roksanda Ilincic Resort 2014

A beautiful display of colors met an even more enthusiastic take on volumes and unusual shapes in Roksanda Ilincic’s offering for resort 2014.  Unconventional floral appliques crossed paths with a colorblocked fantasy in the line-up that drew inspiration from Lygia Clark’s conceptual aesthetic. Making use of iridescent PVC to enrich the elegant silhouettes, Ilincic breathed new life into glamour.
