Alexandre Vauthier keeps it short and sexy for fall 2013, proving once again that haute couture isn’t solemnly about floor-sweeping gowns and ethereal silhouettes. His idea of sensual glamour dressed the models in skin-colored bustier jumpsuits built upon exquisite draping, ultrashort miniskirts paired with oversized varsity jackets, and body hugging dresses exploring the edge of asymmetry.
Under the spotlight at Copenhagen fashion week, the first half of Trash Couture’s moniker most likely wouldn’t have been weighted in the favour. Take away the dark make-up, however, and it’s a spring 2012 collection that does little to live up to the trash and much to live up to the delicateness that couture oft implies.
