Classic with a sharp edge: boots from Cinzia Araia

Discounting the fact that I’d probably ruin these pretty quickly (a fact I’ll optimistically ignore), I can’t think of any reason why they shouldn’t be in my wardrobe. Like the rest of Cinzia Araia’s fall 2012 collection – which takes in a range from slouchy military-esque lace-ups to daintier high-heeled boots – these pairs have a certain edge. But in soft taupe nubuck leather they also toe the line between edgy and classic. In the mind’s eye you can see them providing a sharp, feminine accompaniment to a gauzy white spring outfit or an ensemble of minimalist neutrals. But imagine them with all black, leather and rock-chic layers, and they’d do just as well.

Some people's wardrobes are about a small selection of pieces that all fit within one aesthetic - Tania Braukamper isn't such a person. With a wardrobe that spans three different rooms, her approach to fashion is a mixture of current-season key pieces mixed with vintage finds she's sourced on innumerous shopping trips around the world's more cultured capitals. Despite a disparate approach to shopping, Tania is adamant that the key to mixing vintage with new season is to stick to key looks and colours that work for oneself. And it's a theory that she works into her writing for Fashionising.com, where she serves as the publication's Editor.
