Flip through Alberto Moretti’s spring / summer 2013 look book and one thing will be abundantly clear: this is not a shoe collection that targets the safe and classic. Moretti’s shoes are scrolling gold, textured animal print, metallic snakeskin, embroidered suede; even covered in a rain of confetti sequins or dotted with nut-and-bolt like studs. They’re sometimes elegant and beautiful, sometimes quirky and whimsical.
They’re the kind of shoes that will transform you from a glamorous Cinderalla at the ball, to a flamboyant female Dandy.
The best and most widely appealing of Moretti’s collection are the most understated: a black high-heel with scrolling sheer mesh, a gold version that looks like it took decorating advice from the palace of Versaille, and some flat velvet slippers that beg to be the crowning glory to an androgynous look.
