If I were a futuristic space Goddess with a rocket ship and a laser gun, these would be my first choice for footwear. Then again you don't really need to visit space to be a modern day Barbarella. I can think of plenty of (more justifiable) reasons to add these Jerome C Rousseau heels to my shoe collection... Like the fact that silver is so perfect with white tights as well as black, or because their design is, quite frankly, beautiful.

This may be something I've mentioned before, especially with regards to Billy Kidd's photography, but it's worth reiterating. With minimal styling - in this case a simple black lace bra and some thigh high socks - absence of colour and no-fuss backdrops, it's up to the photographer and the model to create all the depth and engagement in a shoot. Kaja Sokola brings the poses and emotion in this one that perfectly compliment the striking photography.

Can anyone else pull off a thigh high dress slit with the effortlessness of Angelina Jolie?

An exercise in retro ladylike glamour, with '60s full skirts and adorable soft styling, this pictorial from Elle Sweden has us smitten. Note how well an understated knit and slouched down pair of socks in heels can tone down an otherwise glamorously vintage look.

Forever New's philosophy is in bringing out the feminine girly-girl who (supposedly) resides inside every one of us; and at last night's launch of the retailer's new collection, that philosophy shone through like a supernova in a pitch black sky. In sticking to their signature style the brand keeps its following frilled, flowered, and above all faithful. That much was clear from the crowd in attendance: not since it's early days would the grand ballroom at the historic Rippon Lea Estate have housed so many blonde curls and ruffled gowns (though undoubtedly now with shorter hemlines).
With her pumpkin pie sweetness and crystal clear voice, popstar Delta Goodrem turned out to be a well chosen poster girl for the collection, performing a couple of numbers on a white baby grand while wearing a floor-length strapless gown from the collection. The parade that followed was not short on outfits, giving us everything from casual maxi-dresses and denim pieces through to garden party frocks and cocktail numbers.

No worries Sabu, glad you like the article :) Love lace also - it's not always for me, but if you find the right piece it can be so versatile.

When it comes to festival fashion, what could be better than a peep of toned midriff above some relaxed, cuffed shorts?
The addition of some winged shoes, of course.

A trend round-up to inspire you for late-Summer 2010, but also a trend that you'd be amiss not to carry in to Autumn / Fall 2010 / 2011: lace dresses and lace skirts.
Right now you're thinking that this is nothing new. And you're right; it's an extension of the sheer trend that's has, for some time, firmly cemented itself as its own, independent trend. So what follows is, instead, more about how to wear the trend now, and how to set yourself apart from the masses - so that you can bring it forwards and into a new league.

As 2010 hair trends, braids and plaits can be worn in a variety of ways. But if you want to really get creative, this is one style to try. Notice the way the braid intertwines and curtails into a natural, unbinded ending; to achieve this you must start out with some wave or curl already in the hair.

A fusion of military and safari influences, capped off by a sultry pair of over the knee boots; the thing that's most grabbing about this particular shot, though, is the vintage feel of it. The safari theme harks back somewhat to Veruschka's safari shot in YSL.

Indulging in cake, jumping on beds, having pillow fights and all the while clutching some of Mulberry's latest luxury handbags. A day in the life of models Abbey Lee Kershaw and Hanne Gaby Odiele must be oh so tough.

Less of a look book and more of a thematic expedition, Dolce & Gabanna mark their Fall 2010 collection with this series of images taken against a backdrop of dramatic red velvet.
Try to restrain your attention under the ambush of bright jewel-toned leopard prints and winsome floral garlands; before the look book transitions to elegant sheath dresses, then onto prim female dandy looks (still with the leopard theme carrying through) - occasionally detouring into a spot of velvet. Last stop: '30s inspired ballerina gowns and fishtail dresses that wouldn't look out of place on a Dior runway.

If you're expecting the sporty fashion trend to dwindle and peter out, then you'd be right - but not just yet. Spring 2010 is the perfect time to indulge in the comfort and creativity of sporty fabrics and cuts made high-fashion. Here's another shoot with some sporty style inspiration, featuring model Alyce Crawford.

We've posted numerous times about the bicycle as a fashion accessory. Here's a gorgeous vintage shot of a girl on a bike wearing high-waisted shorts and a white summer shirt. Love the simplicity of her outfit, and the fact that - even in black and white - you can see she's matched up with lipstick and nail polish.

It's no great accident that the popularity of Mad Men has coincided with a resurgence in early '60s fashion. A sartorial inspiration to men and women alike, we've seen an avalanche of elements from the era spill over into fashion's impressionable mind; and the bulk of the torrent is yet to come.
So say bonjour to fuller figures and longer hemlines as the skirt and dress silhouettes of the late '50s / early '60s swing their way back onto the scene as a 2010 / 2011 fashion trend.
