They used to just be those things you put on to keep your feet warm. But in Autumn / Winter 07-08 the trend towards socks as fashion has definitely risen to the fore. Though opaque tights have remained big on the winter runways, there’s also been a much wider range of striking legwear.
Thick, woolen socks worn slouched up at the thigh have been making their mark in black, charcoal and oatmeal shades; while opaque version of the above-the-knee sock have added a more interesting take than plain cotton. Other accessories like slouchy woolen leg-warmers and sparkly tights are variations on the trend.
