Long, mid-length or short; leather, suede or wool; plain or studded, feathered or furred, fingerless or full. Gloves graced the catwalk in almost every possible way throughout the Autumn / Winter collections.

So how to wear them? Perhaps the most important lesson when it comes to glove trends this season is this: forget the boring old gloves and make a statement.

With clothing trends for Winter being largely on the safe side – with block colours, plain cuts and limited detail being the norm – accessories are the perfect way to jazz things up. Super-long gloves can be worn straight up the arm or slouched down. Bright colours can liven up an otherwise plain outfit, while beading, feathers or fur add a layer of feminine detail, particularly suited to evening affairs.

Clockwise from left, Alessandro Dell’Acqua, Alberta Ferretti, TSE and Marc Jacobs.

Some people's wardrobes are about a small selection of pieces that all fit within one aesthetic - Tania Braukamper isn't such a person. With a wardrobe that spans three different rooms, her approach to fashion is a mixture of current-season key pieces mixed with vintage finds she's sourced on innumerous shopping trips around the world's more cultured capitals. Despite a disparate approach to shopping, Tania is adamant that the key to mixing vintage with new season is to stick to key looks and colours that work for oneself. And it's a theory that she works into her writing for Fashionising.com, where she serves as the publication's Editor.
