Wide-leg pants: 2008 fashion trend
We've been going skinny for so long, the pendulum was bound to swing back the other way. In 2008 both wide-leg pants and flares (but more the skinny kind than the bell-bottom) are back.
As per the 1930s and 40s influences, wide-leg pants in 2008 are sophisticated and chic; waists work best a little higher and belted to avoid slouching in a sloppy way.
For the cool seasons wear them in thicker wool-mix fabrics and heavy denims, while for spring / summer the trend will carry on in lighter cottons.
