Sarah Jessica Parker teamed a full brown fur coat with elements of the cyberpunk trend while the Olsen twins have been wearing plenty of fur, from throws to collars to coats.
White fur has been a hit this week with the likes of Kate Moss and Kate Hudson (below). Rihanna misses on the animal print trendWhether stylish hits or glaring misses, there's one thing can be said for Rihanna's fashion sense: it always grabs attention. Her bold attempt at the animal print trend recently was way off the mark, with her too-clingy floor lenth leopard print gown compounded by some rather nasty streaks in her usually elegant hair.
What's going on Rihanna? Trend Alert: Dark FantasyWe've mentioned the roaring 20s and cyberpunk as two starkly contrasting genres influencing fashion at the moment. But do we also detect a hint of Fantasy in there too? Serpentine symbols have been getting their fair share of the spotlight in jewellery and accessories lately. Fairytale capes, ice-queen makeup and flowing black have made their appearances on the runway in fantastical form. Add to that the 'Neverending Story' shoot that appeared in October's Dazed and Confused, and you have yourself a trend.
Adriana Lima goes backless and metallicThe metallics trend has been going on for some time now, while the backless trend is something that's just really starting to pick up pace. Adriana Lima wore both recently teamed with a sleek ponytail.
In a bid to avoid doing the 'Heidi' Adriana wore nude underwear (from Victoria's Secret, we'd presume?) and let that peep through the dress rather than showing her, ummm... skin. Kate Moss wears bright red for Donna KaranI've always had reservations about red, as I've mentioned before but am starting to think that maybe bright red can look elegant after all. First it was Natalie Portman, now it's Kate Moss. Kate was looking amazing shooting Donna Karan's Spring 2008 campaign in LA.
The brown leather waist belt makes the dress feel more earthy rather than over-the-top glamorous, while the deep front and long split show the right amount of skin. Again, Kate shows us that a smaller chest can work fantastically with a low-cut neckline. Heidi Klum takes the backless trend a bit farYou know how we looked at the return of the backless dress? Well it seems Heidi Klum has gotten the hang of the trend... a bit too well, actually.
Cyberpunk trend: from Fritz Lang to latexThis will probably sound weird, but I’ve always been a sucker for movies and books that focus on bleak, dystopian futures where the boundaries of humanity are blurred, and the earth is on the edge of chaos and destruction. I thought perhaps there was something slightly wrong there, but turns out I’m not the only one after all. Cyberpunk influences have been infiltrating designer collections; even those from who you’d expect nothing less than dainty refinement (we’re looking at you Christopher Bailey).
So what is Cyberpunk? Kate Bosworth foho and backless trendsKate Bosworth mixed it up a bit for the Vacheron Constantin Platinum Excellence timepieces collection launch in New York City. Wearing a foho 70s paisley print dress, colourful scarf and black tights and boots, she also threw in a touch of the back-baring trend we've been seeing a lot of lately.
The outfit was given a bit of edge by the studded detail. Trend update: Angelina, Natalie and ShakiraFor today's celebrity trend round-up we're looking at outfits from three different movie premieres.
Kate Moss may have brought PVC pants into the spotlight but original bad-girl Angelina Jolie just wanted to remind us that leather pants have always been her thing. She wore this black rock-chic ensemble to the London premiere of her new film, Beowulf... How to wear the boyfriend shirt trendThe boyfriend shirt is a wonderful thing. It gives the impression of having just woken up in the morning, throwing on your boy's white shirt and looking sexier than ever, because it's just so darn simple and effortless. There are a few different ways to pull off this look, Alessandra Ambrosio demonstrates one of them above, while Keira Knightley rocks another in the photo below. |
