We pointed out recently that the lumberjack trend was gathering some (celebrity-driven) steam. What is it about wanting to make something that shouldn't be fashionable, fashionable? God knows, and so does Lindsay Lohan, so maybe we should ask her.

Ooh yellow. It's cute, playful, and if worn right can be darn elegant. Also, it's a definite celebrity trend. We've noticed Hayden Panettiere is a fan of yellow, wearing this summery yellow and grey dress out and about one day...

I did a kind of double-take when I first glanced at these recent photos of Megan Fox - I could have sworn that the Transformers actress had become one of the few celebrities to still be wearing the animal print trend in such a big way. While the trend certainly isn't dead, it's no longer so bold either.
But on closer inspection it isn't animal print at all.

We've not really been the biggest proponents of the maxi-dress trend for casual wear. They can look dowdy and are no-where near as fun as the little leg-exposing minis we're so in love with. But Nicole Richie managed to make this maxi-dress perfectly complimentary to her baby-bump - she looks elegantly thrown together and feminine but with a bohemian edge.

You might have seen pictures of Natalie Portman at the Darjeeling Limited premiere, wearing a bright red dress. I have to confess I've never been a fan of red. At all. In fact, I don't think I even own any. I've seen too many scary incidents of red going wrong to really want to go there, from the dull maroonish reds that make anyone look drab, to the fire-engine 80s style figure-huggers that are too obvious to be sexy.

We've definitely had much discussion about the blunt-cut fringe as a hair trend for 2007 and 2008 ever since it hit the runways on the likes of Freja Beha Erichsen, Heidi Klum and others. Just when we thought hypermodel Kate Moss wasn't going to follow the hair trend, she stepped out with her hair stylist James Brown sporting this very style. And with the two launching a hair care line soon it's perfect timing - and marketing - to make the change.

Recently we have seen the return of many off the shoulder and 80's inspired clothing, however one area that doesn't seem to follow the over the top 80's is the wedding dress.
With simple and classic styles dominating over big embellishments, wedding dresses are understated and elegant. Either 'princess' style or a slip dress as seen below seem to be two common variations. Halter or off the shoulder are also very popular with subtle beading, lace and patterned design.

Mischa Barton was out and about recently wearing the high waisted shorts trend. Mischa teamed her baby-blue gingham shorts with a white shirt and black pumps.
Much like we mentioned the other day with reference to high-waisted jeans, tucking in a top presents a much neater look. Well, the same goes for high-waisted shorts, as Mischa demonstrates.

It's simple, classic and hard to get wrong. Black and white can be worn so many ways - from casual to corporate to red carpet.

Nicole Richie recently did the casual thing wearing a black and white top with a long black skirt. Claudia Schiffer went a little to the mod side, while Katie Holmes was spotted out shopping in a classic white shirt and black skirt (though she failed to funk it up a bit, and it would have been better suited to the office.)
We pointed out the other day that checkered shirts, which used to be the domain of truckers, farmers and lumberjacks, are now in vogue. Kate Moss was snapped out and about in the Cotswolds this week wearing a checked shirt of her own, teamed with skinny jeans, aviators, a cardigan and flat boots.
