The colour first appeared as the ‘it’ boot at Dior Homme’s “Everybody just looks the same” Fall/Winter collection. Next it was Louis Vuitton, then Gucci’s overdose with “Guccissima”, Comme des Garcons, Junya Watanabe Comme des Garcons MAN, Supra sneakers and then of course, Converse.
Try wearing thin leather gold sneakers with your basic white dress shirt, black tie and black/indigo skinny jeans, or maybe even with a white tee with a simple print (i.e. NOT Ed Hardy) for a more Indie rock star feel. Alternatively try tucking in worn skinny/straight jeans into some gold hi-tops with your favourite limited edition street wear t-shirt. Hilary Swank wears the sheer trendIf you've been following our 2008 Fashion Trends Bible, you'd know that sheer fabrics are one of the year's biggest trends (read more about the sheer trend here.) Oscar-winning actress Hilary Swank attended Armani Prive's Spring 2008 Couture show wearing an Armani lingerie-inspired gown with sheer spider-web panelling.
What are your thoughts on the dress? Vote here. Shorts and knits? Shorten it!One of the good advantages of living in the southern hemisphere is adopting the European summer looks months before they hit the stores in Paris, Milan, Berlin etc. Of course Melbourne has its own unique looks for this summer such as err... whatever it is they wear for overdosing on speed. I'm guessing Everlast singlet and fluro-green trunks. But the point is, why not follow suit of some Melbournians and give your "CBF it's too hot" shorts and tee combo a bit of a runway spin to it.
Ashley Tisdale wears the leather jacket trendLeather jackets have been a popular celebrity trend for a while now, and we're confident they won't be dying out any time soon. Blonde popette Ashley Tisdale is the latest celebrity to rock the leather jacket trend, over a grey strapless dress, for her video 'He Said, She Said'.

Stars: 2008 fashion trendWe already mentioned the star motif in our list of jewellery trends to buy in 2008. And, if you've had your eyes open, you'd have noticed that star shapes have been on everything from clothes to shoes to belts.
For their Spring / Summer 2008 collection, Chanel used star-spangled prints contrasted by American flag-style red and white stripes. Yves Saint Laurent's collection was another one to use stars prolifically, adorning shoes, belts and necklaces with big, bold cut-out stars. The unsung Suh Sang (Young)Melbourne's heat wave may be too intense for some indoor barbecue bulgogi, but there is definitely something frying up in Korea. My initial concept of Korean men's fashion was surmised from YouTube videos of hip hop bands and your garden variety of label whoring international students clogging up Collins St during Boxing Day sales. This was changed after befriending a like-minded Dior Homme addict from Korea, who introduced me to some of the most innovative fashion you could ever hope for.

Underwear as outerwear: 2008 fashion trendSheer fabric is in; and along with comes a new take on underwear-as-outerwear. In recent memory, any trends towards underwear-inspired garments have had their basis in corsetry. In 2008, bodices and boning have given way to free-flowing pieces that take their inspiration from delicately feminine lingerie styles. Camisoles, robes and slips are taking their place as everyday garments, drawing on the soft elegance of the 1930's.
