Hair trends: Selma Blair's 30's inspired bob

Written by Tania Braukamper on 16.07.08

When it comes to hair trends, 2008 has in many ways been year of The Bob. Selma Blair's promotional tour for Hellboy II has seen her step out with her chin-length bob in a number of different styles - none quite so charming as this jazz-age inspired side part.

Gisele Bundchen and the Ripped Denim Trend

Written by Allan Barger on 15.07.08

Wow, I thought Natasha Poly looked sexy in ripped denim, but who could forget supermodel Gisele Bundchen on set with Mario Testino? Well while most of us wondered how we could get the job of professional 'bum toucher', V Magazine got on with their work and photos from the July/August issue featuring Gisele have now hit the net.

Mary-Kate Olsen wears gladiator sandal trend

Written by Former Member on 14.07.08

Channelling dishevelled chic, Mary-Kate Olsen was this week seen wearing the only Spring-Summer 2008 shoe trend that matters: the gladiator sandals trend.

Bottomless knickers: 2008 lingerie trend?

Written by Daniel P Dykes on 13.07.08

Sure, we write about fashion trends on an almost daily basis, but lingerie trends are something new to us. After all, has lingerie really strayed from course over the past decade? Black or colourful. Lacy or streamlined. Overt branding or subtle kink.

Does anything really change?

Knickers blog seems to think so. In fact they've spotted a trend: bottomless knickers, or to put it more delicately, ouvert knickers.

Mary Kate Olsen half-tint round sunglasses

Written by Tania Braukamper on 12.07.08

Mary-Kate Olsen in round-framed gradient sunglassesMary-Kate Olsen has been wearing plenty of John Lennon-esque round sunglasses, a sort-of sunlasses trend that hasn't quite made it off the ground (and we're still waiting to see whether it will take flight in 2009).

In this pair, she's pretty much rolled three trends into one: the round shape, the thick plastic frames, and the gradient lens. This large round shape is closer to that of last-years trend however, rather than to the smaller 1970s-style glasses she's worn previously.

Mary-Kate isn't the first to take this look to the streets - the Chanel half-tint sunglasses have also been spotted various times on the likes of Nicole Richie (below).

Kate Moss see-through dress: seeing too much?

Written by Tania Braukamper on 11.07.08

Can there be too much of a good thing? Apparently when it comes to this year's sheer trend, yes. Even for hypermodel Kate Moss, leaving far too little to the imagination can be a tad scary. But more so begs the question: if it looks less-than-perfect on Kate, what about on the rest of us?

Feminising flat lace-up shoes: Selma Blair

Written by Tania Braukamper on 10.07.08

When looking at 2008-2009 shoe trends, the most common defining factor of feminine shoes is a high heel. In fact, there's always a challenge making flat-soled shoes feel sexy and girly, especially so when they're based upon a men's style. This pair of wing-tipped punched Oxford Brogues worn by Selma Blair tackles the problem in a different way: they may be distinctly masculine in style, but the pink laces add an element of fun and femininity.

Gladiator Sandals: Spring-Summer 2008 trend

Written by Daniel P Dykes on 06.07.08

Just in case there was any doubt: gladiators are still the shoe trend for Spring-Summer 2008.

You see, I myself wasn't sure that they'd make it this far. After all, I'd first blogged about gladiator sandals and heels in the middle of last year when they were a staple of a fashionisers Spring-Summer 2007 wardrobe. And while there were positive reactions to looking Kate Moss wearing the look, on mere mortals the clicks weren't so kind.

Then there was this from The Sartorialist;

Deep V-Neck Tops: Men's Trend 2009

Written by Daniel P Dykes on 03.07.08

Mark my words, Deep-V T-shirts are going to be the bane of men's fashion trends in Spring-Summer 2009. For that very reason I'm thankful that the Deep V-Neck trend won't be confined to the tee.

Jamie King in the single-shoulder dress trend

Written by Tania Braukamper on 02.07.08

We're not quite sure what's going on with model-turned-actress Jamie King's fringe... it's certainly not the thick, eye-sweeping fringe that's been such a huge trend this year. Nor do we think the blunt chin-length pieces are going to catch on as a hairstyle of choice. But nevertheless, the girl does have one thing on trend: the one-shouldered dress.
